A recent story surfaced on the internet about a new multi-million dollar state park in Flint, and a video had a field day with the story.
The site of a former Chevy factory will house Michigan’s 104th state park. Chevy Commons will be in Gennessee County, specifically Flint, Michigan, and will cost around $30.2 million. I have no doubt it will be a beautiful park when it’s finished. However, a recent headline in combination with an odd choice of a featured image has left one TikTok creator scratching his head. See the video below.
(Important note: I am in no way making fun of the hard workers at MLive. This video was just too funny to ignore.) Mlive’s headline “Michigan’s newest state park will be within easy reach of the bustling and popular downtown scene” above a photo showing a desolate backdrop of weeds and some older buildings in distance. Again, I’m sure when this park is finished it will look amazing. But, you have to admit that TikTok highlighting the contrast between the words and the image is quite funny. This new park in Flint is just one piece of a bigger puzzle according to this story from Mlive,
Whitmer said the Building Michigan Together plan will invest $250 million to improve the state’s 103 existing state parks…
Seriously though, I’m glad Flint has a new state park. However, I hope the State of Michigan invests a lot of money in the people of this community whose health and finances suffered significantly during the Flint water crisis not too long ago.
