Corporate car rental company to invest nearly $ 150,000 in Michigan economy with employee gift card program

March 5 is Employee Appreciation Day, and Enterprise Holdings is celebrating its full-time and part-time staff in a way that will benefit an industry that has been widely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Enterprise Holdings said it would offer its 80,000 employees $ 100 gift cards to use at local restaurants. This includes 1,475 gift cards for Michigan market employees.

The donation, according to a press release on Friday, allows Enterprise employees to inject $ 8 million into the communities in which they live and work around the world, including $ 6 million in the United States. Enterprise Holdings, owner and operator of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental, and Alamo Rent A Car brands, purchased the gift cards directly from restaurants in the communities they serve. Gift cards will be distributed at 9,500 company branches, including 5,500 in the United States

The company chose independent neighborhood restaurants in an effort to help small businesses, the statement said. In the Detroit subway, restaurants such as Norma G’s, Sweet Soul Bistro, Beans and Cornbread, and Mi Lindo San Blas will participate.

Enterprise Holdings President and CEO Chrissy Taylor said the giveaway comes at a time when employees have shown great loyalty.

“Since the early days of the pandemic, Enterprise Holdings employees have shown their dedication to our business like never before,” said Taylor.

“We look forward to donating it to another industry hard hit by the pandemic, because when we invest in it, we stick to one of the guiding principles of our business: strengthening our communities, one neighborhood at a time.” ”

Company, with worldwide revenue of nearly $ 22.5 billion in fiscal year 2020, operates in nearly 100 countries and territories.
