Michigan community is strong with diversity

I would like to take a moment to reflect on the uniqueness of our community. Faced with obstacles we had never seen or faced before, our community rose to every challenge. We were resilient. We have adapted. We came together despite the differences to help those in need. We have embraced the diversity of our community as the foundation and catalyst for its growth.

Investing in Michigan is investing in our people. As a dedicated member of our community, MGM Grand Detroit is committed to continuing to invest in our city and surrounding areas. It’s not just something we say; it is part of our core values. As the city’s top employer and with Detroiters making up 49% of our workforce, we continually focus on diverse hiring efforts and provide incredible career opportunities in areas where our team members and our guests live and love.

Giving back is not only in MGM Grand Detroit’s DNA, it’s also a key part of MGM Resorts International’s pillars of corporate responsibility. As such, our team members are proud to volunteer thousands of hours annually to support many vital local organizations including the Detroit Public Schools Community District, Michigan Veterans Foundation, Volunteers of America, Life Remodeled, St. Patrick Senior Center, Franklin Wright Settlements, and Covenant House Michigan. .

It is also imperative that we support our city’s economy through the growth of local businesses and tourism. At MGM Grand Detroit, we work tirelessly to provide opportunities for small businesses owned by women, minorities, people with disabilities and veterans. In 2019, we spent over $52 million with various vendors and we believe 2022 will be another strong year supporting our vendors. We’re also one of the city’s largest taxpayers, and since opening in 1999, MGM Grand Detroit has contributed more than $2.9 billion to the State of Michigan and the City of Detroit through taxes on games, municipal and state.
