If you need a little extra financial help, new help is available.
The Northwestern Michigan Community Action Agency received funding from the CARES Act and provides financial assistance to those in need.
They serve those in the counties of Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Missaukee, Roscommon and Wexford.
With the stimulus check long gone and unemployment depleted for some, they say the help is timely.
“We know that there are people who contact us who may never have done so before and that’s totally normal, that’s what we’re here for,” said Tish Stave, Coordinator. - Rental assistance
To be eligible, you must be a resident of the NMCAA 10 County Service Area and have gross household income below 200% of federal poverty guidelines (unemployment income and stimulus payments are excluded. ).
