Private Caro Honored by Michigan State Police for Work on Child Sexual Assault

CARO, MI – A Soldier assigned to Michigan State Police Station Caro is the department’s “Soldier of the Year” for the Third District, which includes the Thumb and the Saginaw, Bay City and Midland areas.

Tpr. Bethany Craig has been in office since 2001 and has dedicated her career investigating incidents of physical and sexual abuse of children, according to a press release from MSP. Craig is also involved in the community by helping Sanilac County Children’s Advocacy Centers with a “child empowerment camp”, fundraising and prevention education.

Craig is also the district nominee for a department-wide accolade given later in the year, “Dr. Carl A. Gerstacker Trooper of the Year,” the statement said.

“Tpr. Bethany Craig’s diligent work in resolving complex complaints of child sexual and physical abuse, her leadership skills and personal dedication to her community make her an excellent selection as a Soldier in the Third District of the year, ”Third District Commander Cpt. Ryan Pennell said in the statement.
